HP T1100 Previewed by the Desktop Engineering
Desktop Engineering Magazine awarded the HP Designjet T Printer series the “Editor’s Pick of the Week,” hailing it as one of the most reliable printers in the industry. In his introduction, Anthony Lockwood of Desktop Engineering noted his utmost faith in HP’s printing technology. He wrote: “In its announcement, HP lingers on the color quality, crisp lines, and that sort of thing. All of which is good mind you, but what I have always liked best about HP printers is that I cannot seem to break them, and I am a cruel master when it comes to machinery.”
He concluded his editorial assuring readers that the new HP Designjet T Printer series will produce high-quality results with an unbreakable printing system. Immediately following, Lockwood reported on the printer’s technical features highlighting CAD and GIS compatibility, exacting detail with a wide-range of colors and impressive print speeds. Throughout the article, Lockwood prominently displayed images of the HP Designjet T1100 and T610 printers.

HP T610 and T1100 versus Canon
-1-IN PRINTHEAD FOR HIGH PRINTING SPEED: Canon printhead is wider than HP’s (1.07 in vs. 0.88 in), so Canon printers can be faster when printing a single, non-complex file, but when printing complex jobs or multi-page documents, Canon productivity can fail due to carriage stops while waiting for data from the computer.
-NON-FIRING DETECTION AND COMPENSATION FUNCTION: The Canon printer detects non-firing nozzles and runs a cleaning routine. If they remain obstructed, it then backs them up. During HP tests, banding due to nozzles out was observed. HP detects non-firing nozzles and replaces them; cleaning is only performed when there is a high number of them. HP process saves time and ink.
-MEDIA OPTIONS: The Canon iPF700 has a media loading system very similar to that of the HP printers. The iPF600 also, has a cassette for loading sheets; media loading, however, can be cumbersome even for an experienced user: HP tests showed that multiple attempts (typically two) are needed before a roll is correctly loaded.
