AutoCAD 2011 for Mac Announced Today

Today, Autodesk publicly announced that we will release a fully native Mac® version of AutoCAD® software this fall.
Later today, we will host a press event, which will be recorded and available for viewing soon at www.autodesk.com/autocadformac. We anticipate that this announcement may generate questions from customers, and we want to share some new details since our initial channel briefing on July 19.
We are publicly communicating the timing for the release of AutoCAD® 2011 for Mac® will be fall 2010. We are not communicating a specific date. It is important to note that any prior communications from Autodesk to our channel partners about releasing this product in September do not reflect our current plans. All customer communications should reference the fall 2010 timeframe. For partner planning purposes only, you can expect AutoCAD 2011 for Mac to be available in English on or after October 15, and to be available in French on or after November 8.
Autodesk also announced AutoCAD® WS web and mobile application for AutoCAD® software. Thousands of users worldwide have already begun using the web application, which is available today as Project Butterfly on Autodesk Labs. Later this fall, Project Butterfly will graduate from Labs and be launched as AutoCAD WS.
AutoCAD WS is a free companion application for AutoCAD software that gives AutoCAD customers the ability to view, edit, and share DWG™ files through a web browser and on select mobile devices, including Apple® iPhone™ and Apple® iPad™. There will also be a plug-in for AutoCAD software that enables customers to access AutoCAD WS directly from inside their AutoCAD software.
Autodesk is planning a number of sales-preparedness tools for partners that will be selling AutoCAD 2011 for Mac software. Our current plans are to provide the following technical and sales training videos via Autodesk Learning Central:
- Selling AutoCAD for Mac - available mid-September
- Moving from AutoCAD to AutoCAD for Mac - Orientation for Pre-sales and Product Support - available mid-September
- Learning AutoCAD for Mac - available late September (for partners and customers)
Look for more specific communications on each of these deliverables in September.
A number of sales tools for AutoCAD 2011 for Mac are now available on Partner Portal, including an overview brochure, product descriptions, and a sales presentation. Beginning September 7, AutoCAD 2011 for Mac content syndication will be available. The content syndication will include copy, banners, and links to both the overview brochure and AutoCAD 2011 for Mac Top Ten Reasons to Buy. Beginning in early October, Partner Express will offer an AutoCAD 2011 for Mac Trial Email Template.
